ECEC Fire Drill

The ECEC has scheduled several safety drills throughout the school year. There will be an ECEC Fire Drill on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. It is important for children, University students, staff, teachers and administrators to practice these safety procedures to prepare in case of emergencies.

Please note that everyone who is inside the building during a drill will be required to participate. No one will be allowed to enter the building while a drill is in process. Please click here for a complete list of scheduled safety drills.

Better Made Potato Chip Fundraiser

The Early Childhood Education Center is pleased to announce our annual Better Made Potato Chip Fundraiser. You can support the ECEC and a Michigan company at the same time. Chips are $16.00 per case of 50 bags - only 32 cents per bag!  These snacks are great for lunches and also make neat Halloween treats. Proceeds go to the ECEC scholarship fund to assist families in need of tuition support for their children.  Last year, you helped the ECEC raise $626 from this fundraiser.

Return order forms with payment to the ECEC front desk by Monday, October 19, 2015 (please make checks payable to ECEC Parent Association).  Orders will be available for pick up on Wed. & Thurs., October 28-29th at the ECEC.

Welcome from the ECEC Parent Association

My name is Michelle Leonard and my husband, Nathan, and I will be leading the Parent Association at the ECEC. We wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves. I work at the University in the Behavioral Sciences Department and Nathan works at CSX Railroad. We have one son, who just started his third year at the ECEC.
We embrace the approach to learning at the ECEC and appreciate how children can explore their environment to foster critical thinking/problem solving. The ECEC is important to us not just in terms of child care, but also in terms of learning/development for our little dude and a general sense of community (we live here in the area).
In the past couple of years, the Parent Association at the ECEC has struggled and we want to try to give it a new breath of life. We hope to increase involvement in a few of the already existing activities/programs, but also possibly by bringing in a few new activities.
We will be at the apple orchard outing and look forward to meeting you there and learning how you would like to be involved! If you aren't able to make it you can feel free to email me or Nathan (mtleon@umich.edu or nay98b@yahoo.com).
Warmly,
Michelle & Nathan Leonard
